Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, according to American standards, in the class of child prodigies. The traits she displayed were normal for a child born in Ireland, surrounded by gifted parents as well as a loving and supportive family. Maureen entered this loving refuge in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th 1920. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons is her mom. She was a accomplished contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed a business in Dublin as well as owned a part of the well-known Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons' was the second FitzSimons child. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen did well in sports and enjoyed playing rough sports. Her naturally-born interest with her ability for performing was remarkable. The fact that she was awarded nearly all the Feis Awards for her home country's drama and theatre performances is a testimony to the fact that she was a natural performer. At age 14, she had been admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her ambition was to study the art of opera and classical theatre.
